A crackling branch

Shakes loose its frozen coat of snow.

Snow-white swan

Untouched by cold

Figuring the freezing pond.

Fractured night

When mortal breath

Breaks like shards of crystal glass.

Unknown footprints

Mark the snow.

What stealthy creature passed this way?
